TOP GUN Experience Program Overview

Ground & Simulator Training: 3 Hours

During the ground phase, your instructor will be using our FAA-approved simulator as a learning tool. This simulator demonstrates and reinforces important concepts and maneuvers that will be experienced during flight.

Flight Experience: 3 Hours

Step out of the classroom and hop into the pilot’s seat! Students will apply their “ground” knowledge to real-world flight experiences in our state of the art aircraft. This phase of your training will also be logged, and it can be counted toward a Private Pilot Certificate.

TOP GUN Missions

Mission #1

Intro to Flight

Objective: Get familiar with the control systems and how to maneuver the airplane on the ground and in the air. By the end of this mission, you will have a basic understanding of aircraft systems, use of checklists, pre- and post-flight procedures.

  • Mission Briefing: 1 hour
  • Flight Instruction: 1 hour

Mission #2

The Four Fundamentals

Objective: Develop your flight skills and gain proficiency in performing the four basic flight maneuvers: straight-and-level flight, turns, climbs, and descents. Includes an introduction to ground reference maneuvers and radio communication procedures.

  • Mission Briefing: 1 hour
  • Flight Instruction: 1 hour

Mission #3

Basic Maneuvers

Objective: Become proficient in performing aircraft pre-flight inspections. Practice procedures for engine start-up, taxi, pre-takeoff checks, and post-flight debriefs. Perform takeoffs with instructor assistance, and become familiar with the basic traffic pattern. Includes an introduction to slow flight, steep turns, and various landing techniques.

  • Flight Instruction: 1 hour
