About Our Leadership Team
A Family Story, Written in the Sky
AeroVenture did not begin with a business plan. In many ways, it began with a father and son and an airplane.
Long before there was an AeroVenture, aviation was already part of the Allen family. George was barely a year old when his father, William F. “Bill” Allen, strapped him into a Cessna 172 and took him flying. Bill was an aviator, scientist, educator, and flight instructor, and some of George’s earliest memories were formed around small airports, airplanes, and the people who gathered around them.
What began as a childhood fascination became a shared life’s work.
In 2010, George and Bill set out to build the kind of flight school they believed aviation deserved. They wanted students to experience the personal attention and mentorship that had long defined the best traditions of general aviation, while bringing greater thought, structure, and professionalism to the way people learned to fly.
George’s mother, Debra, became an essential part of that journey. Her determination, care, and seemingly endless willingness to keep the family moving forward carried AeroVenture through the inevitable turbulence of building a small business. Years later, George would meet his wife through AeroVenture; her creative work would help shape the company’s visual identity and the familiar AeroVenture brand.
AeroVenture truly became a family business in every sense of the word.
Over the years, that small family venture grew into one of the most recognized flight schools in the country, twice earning national recognition as America’s Best Flight School. Yet the heart of AeroVenture has remained remarkably unchanged.
We still believe people learn best when someone genuinely knows them. Every student arrives with a different story, a different reason for learning to fly, and a different set of hopes, questions, and uncertainties. An instructor should understand more than where a student is in a syllabus or which maneuver comes next. They should know what brought that person to aviation, how they learn, what challenges them, and where they hope this journey might lead.
When you understand the person sitting beside you, flight training becomes more than a sequence of lessons. It becomes an experience shaped around helping them become the aviator they imagined they could be. We believe learning to fly should be fun, deeply educational, occasionally humbling, and filled with the kind of adventures that become stories told for the rest of your life.
Today, a new generation of instructors and aviators has joined the AeroVenture family. Many of our former students have gone on to professional flight decks, military aviation, aerospace, and remarkable careers throughout the aviation community. Others fly simply because they discovered the same freedom and wonder that first captured our family generations ago.
We are proud of the awards on our walls. We are even prouder of the aviators whose stories began here.
For our family, AeroVenture has never been about building a large flight school.
It has been about sharing the wonder, adventure, and possibility that first drew our family to aviation, and helping others discover where their own journey might lead.
